Tour the Quaint Village of Sauternes
The Bordeaux region is large, the village of Sauternes (namesake of the sweet wines of Bordeaux) is about an hour’s drive south from the bustling city of Bordeaux. Our Millesima hosts shipped us off to stay overnight in the village before our grand tour and tasting the next day at Chateau Suduiraut.
Sauternes is one of those beautiful, tiny wine region villages with just enough commerce to be fun (hotel, restaurant for example). If you visit, I highly recommend spending a night in Sauternes. You can have a wonderful meal and stay at Auberge les Vignes.

Dude!
I know, I felt the same way being there. I got sore pinching myself!
Sauternes is a favorite place of ours. Not only does the quaint town have good restaurants, many smaller producers of outstanding Sauternes. Haven’t been to Suduiraut yet, need to go!
Thanks, Lynn. I love the cool small villages, always something to discover!
We spent a lovely day in Sauternes last summer – so charming and, well, Sauternes is always a good idea!
Thanks, Mardi. I agree, Sauternes is such a unique wine.
What a great day!!!
Thanks, Michelle!
