Welcome to #WorldWineTravel – Join Us!

We’ll (virtually) travel the world at a leisurely pace, anywhere there are vines and a story

Kicking Off World Wine Travel Group – Join Us!
2021 serves as the beginning of our new community of wine bloggers eager to explore the entire world of wine, food and wine travel. Our plan is to virtually explore the world of wine, one country or region at a time. If this sounds like fun, take a look at our 2021 plan and join us! We’ll meet monthly on the 4th Saturday of the month. We’ll all blog on a single regional topic and chat about our discoveries from 10-11 AM Central Time in the US on Twitter at the tag #WorldWineTravel.  You can join us once, occasionally, or every month. You don’t blog? Join in our conversations, we’re happy to hear all voices.

Our first country to explore is Spain. Our leisurely tour will take all of 2021. Where should we after Spain?

Our 2021 Schedule – Explore Spain!
Below is our virtual travel plan for Spain. After each month you’ll see the region, then a typical wine from that region.  You can feel free to post about any wine or wine travel in the region for the month, you don’t need to stick with the wine mentioned below

  • January – La Rioja – Rioja –
  • February – Catalunya – Penedes, Cava, Priorat, Montsant –
  • March – Castilla y León – Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Toro –
  • April – Aragon – Carinena
  • May – Galicia – Rias Baixas
  • June – Basque – Txakolina
  • July – Canary Islands
  • August – Valencia and Murcia – Jumilla
  • September – Navarre – Navarra
  • October (close to Sherry Week) Andalusia – Sherry
  • November – Castilla La Mancha
  • December – Open Mike Month – Writer’s choice in Spain

January Destination: La Rioja
Our first destination is La Rioja, home of the most famous wine region in Spain, Rioja. Our blogging assignment is to find a wine, a wine story, a winery visit, a wine pairing involving a wine from the region. If you have an interesting La Rioja wine or story from outside the official Rioja DO, please feel free to share it!

How to join us:

  • Post in our Facebook Group event or send an email to tell me you’re in: Include blog url, Twitter handle,  and any other social media details. If you know your blog post title, include that…but you can also send that a bit closer to the event. We’d like to get a sense of who’s participating and give some shout-outs and links as we go. You can contact me at jmb5121@gmail.com
  • Write about a Rioja wine or wine travel experience. Get ready to post and share. But don’t post it yet!
  • Send your post title to me by Tuesday, Jan. 19th to be included in the preview post. I will prepare a preview post shortly after getting the titles, linking to your blogs. Your title should include “#WorldWineTravel”
  • Publish your post between Friday Jan. 18 and 8:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday, Jan. 19th. You can always schedule your post in advance if you will be tied up that morning.
  • Include links to the other #WorldWineTravel participants in your post, and a description of what the event is about. I’ll provide the HTML code that you can easily put in your initial post — which will link to people’s general blog url
  • Once all the posts are live, I’ll send updated code so you can update the permanent links to everyone’s #WorldWineTravel posts.
  • Get social! After the posts go live, please visit your fellow bloggers posts’ to comment and share. We have a Facebook group for participating bloggers to connect and share, too.
  • Sponsored posts are OK if clearly disclosed. Please be sure to disclose if your post is sponsored or if you are describing wine or other products for which you have received a free sample.

I’m new here, show me around!!

    • Hi Tracie and welcome! I’ll explain below, if you’d like to join us, the easiest way is via our (private) coordinating group on Facebook. If you’re interested, just send Jeff Burrows a friend request on Facebook and I can invite you to the “#WorldWineTravel Coordinating Group”.

We are a group of about 20 bloggers who gather monthly to blog on a single topic, chat and share our posts. This group is a new one, an outgrowth of three other related groups. As I mentioned above, we’ll slowly be traveling virtually around the world to explore different regions. Spain provides us with a full year of interesting areas. If you have a blog, you can feel free to join us or just give us a try. If not, we have people who check in with us monthly and chat or visit our blogs.

We had an introductory session in October 2020, you can see the link to my post below. It contains links to all the other blog posts as well as typical content.
      I hope you’ll join us!
