Invitation to Join the #Winophiles Virtual French Basque Visit

Come to Basque France without Leaving Your Lounge Chair
On August 17th, our French Winophiles blogging group will be sharing our exploration of the lesser known Basque region on the French side.

Basque – France and Spain
We think of the Basque region as an area of northern Spain, tucked into the Pyrenees mountains. The region extends just a bit into France. This is the side on which we’ll focus our efforts. Many of us will be relying on what we can dig up online, but we’re a bunch of good dreamers! There is an official French Basque Tourism website, so we have a place to start. The only wine truly from the French Basque is Irouléguy, although we’re stretching to allow Jurançon and Jurançon Sec wines as both wines can be a bit difficult to find. Good luck and happy hunting!

How to join us:

  • Send an email to tell me you’re in: Include blog url, Twitter handle,  and any other social media details. If you know your blog post title, include that…but you can also send that a bit closer to the event. We’d like to get a sense of who’s participating and give some shout-outs and links as we go. You can contact me at jmb5121@gmail.com
  • Find a French Basque wine, some food, or perhaps your research for a trip. Write up your experience and get ready to post and share. But don’t post it yet!
  • Send your post title to me by Tuesday, August 13th to be included in the preview post. I will prepare a preview post shortly after getting the titles, linking to your blogs. Your title should include “#Winophiles” or append the hashtag to the end of your title
  • Publish your post between Friday August 16 and 8:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday, August 17th. You can always schedule your post in advance if you will be tied up that morning.
  • Include links to the other #Winophiles participants in your post, and a description of what the event is about. I’ll provide the HTML code that you can easily put in your initial post — which will link to people’s general blog url
  • Once all the posts are live, I’ll send updated code so you can update the permanent links to everyone’s #Winophiles posts.
  • Get social! After the posts go live, please visit your fellow bloggers posts’ to comment and share. We have a Facebook group for participating bloggers to connect and share, too.
  • Sponsored posts are OK if clearly disclosed. Please be sure to disclose if your post is sponsored or if you are describing wine or other products for which you have received a free sample.
