My blogging buddy and real-life friend, Valerie, has close friend who has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer. Val has started a fund to help with the overwhelming expenses for her friend going through cancer treatment. You might think, “pretty far removed from my life”, but you should read on! You see, Val and her husband Evan are wine guides in the Piedmont region of Italy. To encourage those of us who would like to help but might need a little push, they have sought donations from some top winemakers and business owners in the region for a little raffle.

About the Beat Cancer Piedmont Wine Fundraiser
The fundraiser was developed by Valerie of Girl’s Gotta Drink, a wine and travel blog focused on the Piedmont region in Northern Italy.
Valerie’s friend was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon cancer that has spread to her liver. To help with financial relief, Valerie created this fundraiser by collecting wine bottle donations from her network in the Langhe and Roero. Now, Girl’s Gotta Drink is selling entries to win this case of Piedmont wine.
The mix features big names, cult producers, up-and-coming producers, bottles from the acclaimed 2013 Barolo vintage, top single-vineyard Barolo and Barbaresco wines, and other unique wines that tell a different regional story.
In total, the case includes eight bottles, 10 standard size bottles and two magnums. The bulk of the wines are from the area’s prized Nebbiolo grape, but also feature a very special Arneis (a white that is indigenous to the Roero) and a top Barbera. These wines are incredible.
How can you get a chance to win? Simply donate $25 and fill out the entry form. The contest runs through January 17, 2018. One lucky winner will be selected at random.

Entry details: For every $25 donated, you receive one entry into a random drawing for the case. That means if you donate $100, you get four entries. There is a cap on entries at 10 per person, but of course, please donate more than $250 if you would like. The cap is in place to generate as much interest as possible from different parties.
The fundraiser runs through January 17, 2018. The drawing takes place on January 18, 2018, and the winner will be notified for shipping details (for shipping eligibility, see terms and conditions at Girl’s Gotta Drink.
Meet Michelle: At 39 years old, Michelle is a single mother, now undergoing chemotherapy with a 50 percent chance of survival. As a single mother, Michelle has been struggling to make ends meet, working two jobs to provide for her and her 10-year-old daughter. She gives on a daily basis both in her personal life and as an emergency dispatcher. Between health insurance and a loss of income due to the physical toll of both the illness and the chemo, the goal of this fundraiser is financial relief while also providing a little pot of gold for one lucky donor.
