Pair that Tawny Port with a Campfire

Pair Tawny Port with a Summer Campfire
Sometimes, just relaxing in a comfy setting is all you need for a perfect pairing. Put a bit of a chill on the bottle, go out to the fire and enjoy! If Tawny Port, or Port in general is new to you, here’s a link to a primer on Port styles and some recommended pairings. Here are a couple links to our visits to Porto and the Douro River Valley.

Dow’s 20 Year Old Tawny Porto (sample $67 SRP, available online) 20% abv
Eye: Pale tawny
Nose: Medium plus intensity aromas of caramel, creme brulée, pecans, subtle woody notes, stewed peaches, dried apricots.
Mouth: Sweet, medium plus acidity, medium silky tannins, full body with a silky texture, high alcohol, medium plus flavor intensity, long finish of caramel and dried apricots. The flavors follow the aromas closely.
Observations: An outstanding wine and one to savor every taste. Serve chilled. One final note: Don’t let the cost of a bottle of Port deter you. A 3 to 5 oz. pour is plenty. As a fortified wine, Tawny Port will stay enjoyable for many weeks after opening, longer if you keep it in the refrigerator.

That looks like a bit of heaven. The “dog” recommendation…I think that is essential.
Thanks Robin!
